LegalShield’s latest workplace study reveals that 56% of employees faced legal matters last year, with 94% reporting these experiences as stressful. These challenges manifest in tangible business impacts through reduced productivity, increased absenteeism, and diminished employee well-being.

To address these issues, our study shows how employer-sponsored legal and identity theft protection benefits provide an affordable, accessible solution that fosters employee satisfaction and loyalty while driving retention and business value.

Key findings on ID theft protection & legal benefits

Here are the key findings from the information we gathered from surveyed employees:

1. Employees face significant stress from legal challenges that affect their focus and force them to take time off work.

2. Employees value legal benefits highly when compared to other voluntary benefits and recognize that legal benefits increase their job satisfaction and loyalty.

3. Pairing legal benefits with identity theft protection creates a comprehensive protection package that enhances employee satisfaction, loyalty, and well-being.

Why legal and identity protection benefits matter to employees

LegalShield conducted a survey in October 2024, surveying 1,004 full-time U.S. employees with access to benefits. According to the results, 56% of employees face legal challenges and a whooping 77% experience identity theft or cybersecurity issues.

The majority of employee's surveyed, 94%, reported experiencing stress resulting from legal and identity theft issues, while 85% of employees required at least one full day away from work to deal with a legal or ID theft matter.

By offering both legal and identity theft protection benefits, employers can:

  • Address two major sources of employee stress and workplace disruption
  • Strengthen retention while reducing absenteeism
